Rood Apples Cider

Address:

Creekside Estate Winery
2170 Fourth Ave,
Jordan Station, ON L0R 1S0

Here at Provoke, we are a big fan of trying out ciders of all kinds. We discovered Rood Apple Cider by accident as there was only one can in the fridge at the LCBO. It was love at first taste for me, and we decided it would definitely be one of our first road trips. Rood Apples is a part of the much larger Creekside Estate Winery in Jordan Station. We left the wines alone on this trip and will focus solely on the ciders. To start off I am a huge fan of the design of their cider can, it is simple and modern. With all that being said, let us get on to the good part and start sampling their ciders.

Rood Apple - At first I thought it was just a unique way to say their cider was RUDE, but that was because it was really meaning RED in Dutch. I can tell you there is nothing Rude about the taste of this cider, it is absolutely delightful. A traditional Apple Cider made with 5 different types of Red Apples, this one has to be one of our favourites to sip on the patio. I would say it is one of my top 5 ciders to drink at the moment. We will see where it sits at the end of 2020! A dry cider that is light with a hint of sweetness to finish you off. Refreshing with any meal on a hot day, or even working on your patio like the Provokers. We could sip them all day while we work on our patio and for that very reason we give it our top grade.

Grade: PROVOKED

Sour Cherry - One of our favourite things at the moment to drink is sour beverages. Lisa has been on this beer sour kick while I have been into finding sour ciders. This one really hits the spot. The sour cherry by Rood has a beautiful tart-like taste with a fantastic aroma. I was not expecting how much I enjoyed the sour cherry but I was pleasantly surprised. This is something I definitely would not drink on a daily basis, but I would have some around the house. I would have to be in the mood for a nice sour finish. 100% worth the money spent on the bottle and I would have it on our list to try again for sure. If you're a sour fruit fan you should swing by and pick yourself up a bottle.

Grade: A-

Was a nice little adventure to Jordan Station, and we had a lot of fun. In terms of Covid-19 measures, when we attended we did see the following: The gentleman behind the counter was masked up, and they only allowed a set number inside at a time when we visited. They even have stickers on the ground to help you space out properly. The people were super friendly and helpful making it very easy to feel at home. If you're up for a road trip, it is a nice little winery that would definitely deserve a visit.

Till Next Time...
